这首歌是《毕业生》的一个插曲.取材于一首苏格兰的民间谜歌中的一段,所以保罗的版本感觉内容有些不太连贯.原歌背景是一个人的爱人离他而去,他请人去给他的爱人捎信,让他的爱人做一系列"不可能完成的任务".如果完成不了就要回到他的身边(所以这些事情看似很离奇),包括"缝制麻布衬衣,不带接缝和外露的针脚","到一个XX地方(很难达到,具体地我记不清了),去取一种植物的种子","在海水和海岸之间寻找一片沙地,将种子种下","用皮革的镰刀收割,用石南花捆扎".大概就是这个意思,由于保罗取了其中一段,而原著就是谜歌(猜谜性质的民歌),所以歌词显得朦胧、深奥，意境优美，略带忧伤。但是保罗在语言的驾驭能力方面确实高人一筹，所以对他正式的评价首先是诗人。
